Custom Designed Fixed Partial Dentures
If you have missing teeth, your smile probably may be an embarrassment. Do you hide your smile? Are you confident when you eat and chew? If you answer “Yes,” to these questions then we have answers for you. We’re specialists in restorative dentistry. Dr. David Zelby, a prosthodontist, focuses on replacement of missing teeth for pleasing cosmetic and functional results. If you have multiple missing teeth, a partial denture can fit seamlessly into your mouth to restore the look and function of your teeth. Partial dentures can be either fixed or removable. So how do you know which is right for you? At your consultation and diagnosis, Dr. Zelby will carefully explain your options and provide you with the answer for the most secure, comfortable, natural and long-lasting results.
Fixed vs. Removable
A partial denture serves to replace multiple missing teeth. A removable partial denture attaches to existing teeth in the mouth to hold in place. If you require a partial denture, your Atlanta restorative dentist, Dr. Zelby, offers custom partial dentures designed to fit into your mouth seamlessly. These prosthetics will restore your smile without sacrificing your speaking or chewing abilities. They are made of a material that mimics the feel and function of natural teeth, meaning that you will be able to smile confidently and securely.
Fixed partial dentures offer better stability because they are anchored into the jaw or are bonded to other teeth. Patients who have sufficient bone available in their jaws may want to consider partial dentures fixed with dental implants for the superior stability they provide. Patients who do not have the necessary bone may be candidates for bone grafting, which can provide sufficient bone to serve as an anchor for the implants.
If a patient does have the required bone, Dr. Zelby will then place dental implants into the gums and jawbone. Over time, the implants will fuse with the bone, ensuring solid support for the partial denture. Once enough time has passed to ensure the proper fusion of bone and dental implant, usually 4-6 months, Dr. Zelby will attach abutments and finally a custom made partial denture that will remain firmly in place. You will even be able to eat steak without worry.
